The Future of Tort Law
As we move further into the 2020s, Tort law is evolving. We are now seeing “Cyber Torts”
(online harassment and data privacy) and “Environmental Torts” (suing corporations for climate
change impacts). The principles established by judges in the 1800s are being stretched to fit the
world of AI and algorithms.
“The law of torts is not a static body of rules. It is a living, breathing mechanism that
adjusts as society’s standards of ‘reasonableness’ change.”
